Wax Modeling Workshop - Make A Pendant Necklace - TAPUKALA Bristol

from £120.00

I’m very excited to be running a Wax Modelling workshop as part of the Mahika Kala / Tapuh Clothing Pop Up in Bristol this summer!

Classes will be held at the pop-up venue, 56 Gloucester Rd Bristol, BS7 8BH (former Ottowin shop).

The class times will be:

Class 1 - 10am - 1pm / Sunday 28th July / 6 spaces available

Class 2 - 2pm - 5pm / Sunday 28th July / 6 spaces available

Each class will be split into 3 spaces for a bronze pendant and 3 for silver.

Join Ruth from Studio Rua in learning how to make your own unique pendant necklace.  Ruth creates all her designs by hand using wax as a starting point, working in the age-old technique of lost wax casting.

Ruth will talk you through the process of working in malleable wax to hand model a pendant of your own design, guiding you through some different techniques to try and how to work intuitively with the tools provided.

At the end of the class your wax model will be cast in metal off site and sent back to you as a finished necklace, in either bronze or silver.

The cost of the ticket includes one pendant in either bronze or silver, along with an 18" circumference 14k gold filled or silver cable chain, plus soldered 6mm diameter jump ring of corresponding metal.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for the bronze pendant necklace to arrive with you after th workshop and 3-4 week for the silver due to needing to be hallmarked.

All materials are provided on the day, except aprons, so please bring one if you would like. Feel free to bring along any inspiration ideas to discuss on the day and also any found objects that you would like to try taking impressions with in the wax.

*A few helpful documents will be sent to you a week before the class to give you some information on the lost wax casting process and also ideas to think about, so an email will be needed on booking so these can be sent to you.

If you can't make the workshop, do come visit the pop up - Mahika Kala & Tapuh Clothing are taking over the previous Ottowin on Gloucester Road for two weeks, from 19th July - 2nd August 2024. There will be lots of wonderful makers selling their work. Do check their instagram accounts for more details.
